Thank you for finding us! Officially, we are a youth-focused organization that provides opportunities for young people to develop physical fitness through participation in Highland Dance, and promote sportsmanship and personal excellence through instruction, competition, performance, and social interaction. Unofficially, we dance because we love it; the dances are fun and anyone, not just those with Scottish heritage can join in.
Our membership comprises 5 schools with dancers ranging from 4-55. Our dancer’s two main focuses are competitions and performances.
Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. Scottish Highland Dancing is a celebration of the Scottish spirit.
Scottish regiments used Highland Dancing as exercise to keep the troops in shape, and ready for battle. For example, in a typical six-step Highland Fling, a dancer will jump vertically 192 times, with intricate footwork using muscles from head to toe.
